A sharing by Helen Chang for this song:

Didn’t the Lord Jesus say this over two thousand years ago? Have we wondered how near is near? Now that the pandemic has been with us for more than a year, it seems that many of us have adjusted reasonably well to it already. So how is this relevant to me today?

As I ponder on the parables of the Lord Jesus which he taught based on the way of daily life at the time, I caught a glimpse of what it means to be a part of the labourers in the vast field of God’s harvest.

Just as the Lord Jesus taught us to sow seeds, we need God’s wisdom, courage and prayer to prepare the soil and to sow seeds. While God would grant growth to the seeds, I must be faithful to keep the weeds out and to water the seeds. This reminds me of the importance for me to be yielded to His teaching and to live by it, or else I’ll have nothing to give. It is He Who gives life to the seed, I must be watchful to care for it till harvest. As we have been commanded to go and labour in the field because the harvest is near, so shall we delay? Shall I delay?
